Another Broken Promise


When I met you I thought it would be
Forever, you promised me it would
But again another broken promise
On yet another day

It wasn’t your fault this I know
But it still hurts like hell that you had to go
I’ve tried to understand but my
Heart will not allow

I’ve asked why this is so
That you had to go away but again
Another broken promise on yet another day

I remember how you’ll say
I love you and I’ll never let you go
You held me close in the night
And whispered sweet nothings and made it alright

Now as I lay here all broken and confused
I here nothing but silence
No words, no arms, and no you
Then I remembered another
Broken promise on yet another day

As you were leaving me I remembered
Your last words; “I love you and I’m
Sorry for another broken promise
On yet another day”

I realize we can’t cheat death
So my love I forgive you
For another broken promise
On yet another day
