Living is a journey full of the unknown that captivates the hearts and souls of us all. We didn't decide to take this journey for it was non-negotiable. A part of me feel sad at times because there are so many people who take the journey for granted, it is a gift so it has to be appreciated and caressed with love and compassion. The journey was not promised to be easy but we can make the best of i...t with common sense and integrity. Live the journey to the fullest and except what we can not change but change what we can. Love, hate, compassion, positivity, and negativity are things that can be control, so control your destiny while traveling the journey and the end will be filled with prosperity. STOP THE HATE AND LET'S CELEBRATE ONE ANOTHER!

What Happened To The Music?

What Happen To The Music/BET Awards
I'm concern for today's generation when it comes to music. Do they know what music is or the purpose for music? Well, I say no to both question. When you think back in the days of slavery music was inspiration while enduring the pain and agony of bondage. It also was a form of communication for the slaves so the white men would not understand their plans for freedom. As time went in our culture music continued to be a source of inspiration, but it also became an expression of who we were. Music empowered us as a culture. It made us proud to be black, it made us proud to learn about our heritage. We used music to promote self love, self respect, and to let the world know we are as equal as everyone else. Music used to make us proud on all levels spiritually, culturally, and emotionally.
This generation don't understand the meaning of music because most of it is classless and tasteless. All you seem to hear on the radio is derogatory remarks about our women and glorifying the material things in life. The biggest glorification is money which we all know is the root of all evil. Evil has plagued our music industry and the music executives are destroying our children. We as parents have to take it back to the basic and teach our children the importance of positive, uplifting, and encouraging music. We have to introduce them to the music of yesterday in it's rarest form. Now there are some modern day artist that know the meaning of music and has continued the tradition of what music is. Jill Scott, India.Arie, Maxwell, Kem, Eryka Badu, Chrisette Michelle, Melanie Fiona, and Ledisi just to name of few are keeping with the tradition of true music for the soul. I commend them on not being victims of the industry by the demonic forces behind it. Let's promote real music to save our children.

On a more positive note BET Awards out did themselves this year with showcasing some phenonmenal artist such as Cissy Houston who did an outstanding job saluting her late daughter, Ms Whitney E. Houston, deemed "The Voice" by Oprah Winfrey. The entire tribute to Whitney Houston was by far the best portion of the show this year. Also Valerie Simpson did an amazing tribute to her late husband Nick Ashford. These are two of yesterdays artist that have the it factor when it comes to vocal talent and training. Artist such as these have helped groom some of todays few artist to continue the music journey in a rare and raw form. Examples of todays artist that showcase their raw talent would be the likes of Melanie Fiona, who by the way did an outstanding job on the BET Awards as well as the comeback artist D'Angelo.
